 A warm welcome from Farm Road Pre-school

The Farm Road Pre-school was established in 1971 and is an important part of our local community. The Kindergarten building and grounds are owned by the City of Kingston, but the kindergarten is managed by a parent Committee of Management. As a not-for-profit community-based pre-school our primary objective is to provide the best quality care and education for children and families.

We are extremely proud of the wonderful facilities and resources that we provide to local families. We are the envy of many with our extensive and beautiful play-ground. The cost of this major renovation was completely paid for by the Pre-school and was achieved by many years of fund-raising and hard work by parent committees and families.

We have a highly committed experienced and cohesive teaching team who work together to provide the highest quality program. Our service and program have been rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standards by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Authority.

Farm Road Pre-school acknowledges that our centre is located on the traditional lands of the Bunurong people of the Kulin nation.

our philosophy

Belonging, being and becoming

We provide an inclusive environment where all children are welcomed, and feel safe, valued and respected for who they are.

Play is the foundation of our programs.  Play provides children with the opportunity to develop confidence, social skills, resilience, cognitive development (including maths, science, language, literacy), wellbeing, physical development, creativity, problem solving, critical thinking - all the skills they need to prepare them for school and success throughout life.

Educators build on each individual child’s knowledge & interests to enhance and broaden their learning experience. We acknowledge the fact that parents are their child’s first educators. We aim to develop positive and respectful relationships between children, families and staff. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in the kindergarten program.  Sustainability and cultural inclusion are embedded across the program.

Our Teachers

All of our teachers at Farm Road Pre-School have extensive experience in the early childhood sector and have been at our centre for many years.

Our staff are dedicated, and love working with young children and their families to ensure a positive kinder experience.

Early childhood is a very special time in a child’s life. It is a time to be treasured and as a Kindergarten teacher I feel very privileged to be able to play a small part, for a short amount of time in the educational journey of individual children. Learning begins at birth and parents are their children’s first teachers. That is why I believe that building strong relationships with parents is very important. At Farm Road Pre-school we aim to create an environment where every single child feels safe, nurtured, stimulated and valued.

Kindergarten is a very special place where children learn through play. I believe that play is a very powerful and effective way for young children to learn. Skilled early childhood teachers and educators can see opportunities to extend children’s learning by combining a mix of teacher led experiences and by also following children’s interests. Learning can often be spontaneous and should always be intentional.

At Farm Road Pre-school I lead a team of exceptional women who are dedicated, highly skilled and passionate about the importance of early childhood education. We all believe that Kindergarten is not just “preparation for school,” but “preparation for life.”

Outside of kinder I love escaping to the country, gardening, cooking, reading, walking, spending time with my grown-up family and friends, going to the footy and learning French – (you’re never too old to learn something new.)

Farm Road Pre-school is a very special place – come and see for yourself.

2019 building works

A newly renovated Farm Road Pre-school for 2020

From July 2019 to December 2019 the City of Kingston will be renovating Farm Road Pre-school. The renovation will include the following improvements:

  • A larger indoor learning space to increase the capacity of the kindergarten;

  • Improved functionality and fit out (new flooring, improved acoustics, improved security, disability access);

  • Upgraded and extended children’s bathroom; and

  • Upgraded office facilities.

During the works the Pre-school will be relocated to Kingston Heath Primary School at 25 Farm Road, Cheltenham.

The decision to renovate the Kindergarten has been the culmination of extensive planning and has been made possible by a grant of $345,750 from the Victorian State Government and a contribution of $115,250 from Council.

2020 enrolments will not be impacted by the renovations.
